Meyerson's Friendly Fire

This article on today's Washington Post Op-Ed page is pretty alarming. Harold Meyerson is just about as left-wing as they come, "generally viewed as the most liberal voice on the Post op-ed page" according to his own website. But he appears pretty disgusted with Hillary and the "Clintonistas" who are going to be demonstrating at the DNC meeting in a few days as they make their voices heard about seating the Florida & Michigan delegates. I agree with most of Meyerson's points in this article: many months ago Clinton's camp agreed to and completely supported the unseating of MI & FL delegates after they ignored the DNC rules, so they have no right to be complaining now. But as usual, Meyerson goes overboard in an article in his view that Hillary's faithful are making "a mockery of democracy and feminism" - that's a stretch at best, especially the feminism part.

Regardless, it is very UNusual for him to go overboard in striking at such a prominent member of the Left. To me this is simply more evidence of the disconnect that seems to be taking place within the Democratic Party. We will just have to see how the Party progresses over the next few months and whether it would have been wiser for Hillary to step aside when she was effectively mathematically eliminated on Super Tuesday in March.

March certainly too early.

But after a meeting which she is sure to loose big on Saturday, and the primaries next Tuesday... she has to go on Wednesday.

After that I won't even have any sympathy for her anymore.

I'll believe Ed's out of sympathy when she joins me in the CoC'ers for Obama '08 effort! :-)
